Betty and her mother

It is too bad that CNN cannot be unbiased. Notice how they imply fear upon Betty and take "sides" with Carolyn.
It is Carolyn who is fearful, or she wouldn't need her silly "protection".
Keep your head up Betty! It can't be easy seeing your mother so bitter.
I wish nothing but happiness and peace for her in the end as well.

1. she hopes to be married "SOON"
Q/ would you like SOMEDAY to have a sister wife or two?
A/ Yeah, thats a part of my religion.

2. Q/ What was it from the outside world that you dislike the most, or that you where scared of?
A/uhhmmm mostly, its.......shallow. I couldnt find any satisfaction, and anything there.

BUT CAROLYN HAS A SECURITY GARD WITH HER BECAUSE OF THE PROXIMITY OF THE RANCH!!! AND WE SHOW HER OUR INTERVIEW WITH BETTY.

3. Q/ DO YOU MISS YOUR MOM?
A/ OF COURSE
Q/ I mean, do you wish she would come back?
a/ If, she would do that, that would be, it would be amazing (surprise face)

THEN CAROLYN SAYS
I COULD CRY, I MISS HER, I MEAN, SHES CHANGED, YOU KNOW, UHMM SHES DOING LIKE SHES DOING , SHES DOING OK. BUT I, I , I MISS HER.
(of course shes doing ok, she is where she wants to be)

Then they show Merryll saying hello to the camera and then they say Betty is one of Merrylls 58 children.... and then they show Betty saying:
"I AM BEYOND GRATEFUL TO BE BACK", "I WOULDNT GIVE IT UP FOR ANYTHING IN THE WORLD".

and then the stupid Carolyn says, YOU SEE, THATS SCRIPT, SAYING IM SO GRATEFUL TO BE HERE, AND THE EXPRESION, AND........

Carolyn pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeee, she said it FROM HER HEART!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then the journalist says that his interview with Betty was being observed by one of the FLDS leaders. ROFL, Someone is with her if she needs help or feels atacked you fool!!!! When will you stop this scum journalism?

And then he says she "nervously aknoledged" she had comunication with her mother two weeks ago.

Of course she is nervous, her mother is a mean person who has hurt her other mother, her father, brothers and sisters, I think she is really humble for sending her mother a card!!! I wouldnt even kick mine LOL.

Then he says that how did Betty feel when her mother said she loved her, and Betty said, well, that was good to see. IF SHE LOVED HER SHE WOULDNT HURT HER THE WAY SHE HAS.

CAROLYN, DO YOU THINK THAT SHE REALLY HAS TO BE CAREFUL FOR WHAT SHE SAYS? I MEAN SHE WENT BACK CAUSE SHE WANTED TO. IF SHE WANTED TO SHE WOULDNT BE AFRAID OF ANYTHING BUT YOU!!!!!
SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And then they say, Carolyn is SURE they will be back together again some day.....................
And Betty says she wont go to the outside world anymore, she was there for 4 years and it was enough

AND THE JOURNALIST SAYS, BETTY SAYS IT WOULD ONLY BE POSSIBLE IF SHE WENT BACK TO FLDS.
Dear Journalist, you are MISQUOTING Betty just like you do with FLDS.

Notice how, at the first of the video they quote Carolyn as saying she hasn't had any contact with Betty since the day of her departure. Then at the end of the interview, Carolyn says she is so grateful to still have communication with Betty. What she is saying to the world is this, "I am a liar. I continually contradict myself. Don't believe a word I say."

HERE is another CNN video from the same day.

Two things stood out to me- the disconnect between Carolyn's claim to have no contact and her acknowledgment that she does, in fact, have contact (seen also in Brooke's article, when Betty texted her mother and asked her what she had to do with the raid)
And the strangely unchallenged accusation from Caroline that Betty is under enormous 'pressure' from the FLDS not to leave.
Problem: Isn't she also under ENORMOUS pressure from her mother to leave? Didn't her mother take her away against her will?
Problem: Caroline has no contact with Betty or the ranch, according to her. How does she know about this pressure?

Does this reporter understand the difference between 'pressure,' coercion, and the sort of encouragement and loving persuasion anybody would apply to somebody they love? "Please don't go, we love you, we want you to stay")

I would never pretend to be an expert on FLDS religion, nor do I know Carolyn, Betty, Maggie or anyone from that community. I am just an outsider who finds this topic interesting. I've read material on both sides and try my best to be respectful of other people's beliefs.

From my standpoint and from what I've read/seen , I believe that Carolyn did not have contact at first from Betty, and then recieved texts/phonecalls some time later etc. That would give some explanation as to why it's written in the book, and then in later Interviews where she said she had talked to Betty.

As for If Her mother had loved her she would never have done this. I think Carolyn was doing what she thought was best. No more, no less.

Besides Betty is an adult now. She has her rights and can exercise them. If she is happy, loved and taken care of (which she looks like she is) then by all means do what you love. I hope she remains that way in all that she does. Carolyn clearly was not happy and did what she thought she had to do. While I'm sure it was traumatic, a mother does have rights to her children. That is my belief.

These are very interesting discussions.

I've read what you think of it and I certainly understand your position. I wasn't saying it was wrong or untruthful.

I was merely expressing my opinion on a statement regarding Ms. Jessop's contact with her daughter. Is that not plausible?

I'm not saying I believe every little thing in Carolyn Jessop's book. A person has to keep an open mind when reading such memoirs as it is their opinion or take on the events that happened. You look for other arguements, hence your blog. You read the other side, which I am doing. If Betty Jessop publishes a book, I'll probably read that as well. If you published a book same thing.

However Carolyn's book does lead to a lot of questions about other woman's situations (good and bad). That is what I am interested in. Which is why I like to read your blog, for another's opinion.

I hope that you do not feel like I disrespected you in any way. That was not my intention.
Thanks
