Texas and Abuse, Bigotry in Action

I have put These Stats up before, but it seems that many missed its meaning or significance. The statistics I show here are directly from Texas Department of State Health Services.

I originally put them up at the time that CPS put out their "final" report that was making the claim that "of the 439 children removed from the yearning for Zion ranch in West Texas earlier this year, 275 were abused or neglected" By their definition of "neglect", it is meant other children could SEE "married" teenagers.

So their definition of abuse is "married", or "pregnant" underage; and their definition of "neglected" is any other child who could SEE them. So using their own definition, how many children in the entire State of Texas should be considered "abused" and "neglected"? Just take into consideration the children who might "see" the following:

So from 2001-2005, (where the stats are complete), there were 148,997 teenage pregnancies, 62,360 of those ending in the killing of the unborn, and 1,446 of the infanticide murders were to girls 14 or younger.

Also from 2001-2006 (where the stats are complete) there were 86,536 State (en)FORCED abuses (marriages) of teenage girls, and 405 of those were to girls 14 and younger.

So, how many of these "victims" were taken into CPS custody? How many of their siblings, relatives, and neighbor children were also so "neglected" that they needed ripped from their mothers so their parents could take parenting classes? Do we need a group of Rozita Swinton's to "help" them with prank calls? Is that part of the "stimulus" plan?

The DSHS actually break down the State (en)FORCED marriage age stats even further; including the difference in age between the "victim" and the "abuser". This is state sanctioned ABUSE by their own definition.

The conclusions should be obvious. If they are not, and you still think there is no bigotry involved in the persecution of the FLDS, you need to go look in the mirror and ask yourself "Am I a bigot too?"

The definition of "marriage" to the general population is sexual and has the rational of sanctioning sexual activity. That is not the purpose or motivation for marriage in the FLDS; marriage sealing in the FLDS is a religious covenant of virtue.

Elissa Wall And her missing letter

About seven months after the betrothal sealing ceremony between Elissa Wall and her victim there was a letter written by her. The letter was not used in the trial against the assistant to the Prophet at the time, the man who performed the ceremony. (By the way, he was convicted of Rape for performing that ceremony if you didn't know already.) It was not used because the letter could not be found. But there was a letter used in evidence, written by her victim. It was a greeting card with many flowers etc. on the front, and this is what it said inside:

Dear Elissa,
I take this time now to write to you. I am not a professional writer, but if the Lord will come to my aid I would like to express some of my feelings at this time.
I got home at about 11:15 last night. I thought to myself, I will grab a bite to eat, then run up and see my sweetheart, give her a huge hug, tell her I love her, and go to bed. Well I got a bit to eat and one of my old weaknesses came along, and I sat down to rest my weary legs. Just then our kind Father in heaven said to me “My son Allen, get up and go to bed” But in my weakness and slow responsedness I stayed there, thinking “I’ll get up in a minute when I get done with my food” Now Father in heaven must rebuke me for being so slow to respond to inspiration, and He has 3 different ways.
#1 He allowed me to sleep until 4:00 this morning
#2 He inspired you to write that letter last night to open my eyes to my slowness.
#3 He chastened me this morning through his Holy Spirit.

Now I wonder, what might have she said in that letter? And why was he was asking for forgiveness from her.... hmm.....
Any guess?
(hint: He got home from working late, fell asleep on the chair, and got up in the morning and went to work without giving her any attention)

Elissa Wall, Victim of who?

Elissa Wall was 14 when she was betrothed to a young man, a man who is hard working, dedicated, and very kind. Yet Elissa would have you believe that she was forced to marry him against her will. That is not true. Of course a jury of his "peers" riled up by the fabricated evidence, biased media, and bitter former members lies, agreed, with the help of a prejudiced judge, and put an innocent man behind bars. The man was convicted of rape. Convicted not for touching her in any way, not by requiring anything of her against her will, but for asking her the "typical" accomplice's words: "Do you take this man to be your husband of your own free will and choice?" Amazing

Of course the "official story" says that she was crying etc before the wedding. Do you think it might have been due to the fact that she was nervous, and anxious? You mean like every other girl gets before her wedding? No, it was because she didn't want to go through with it she would have you believe now. Her whole life now is based on that re-manufactured story, that lie. Had she said no even once, she would not have been betrothed. But she didn't, not once, and that is a fact. In fact, she said YES.

Yes, these are pictures used in court to convict that man, but these pictures are not of the man convicted, no, they are of the man that Elissa herself calls a "victim" as well. I certainly cannot argue that he was NOT a victim (of her). This man here has not even gone to trial yet.

Here they were taking pictures after the ceremony. Certainly she was very much against all this, having such a young man who is as new to this as she is. Newlyweds against their will, right?




Not long after she must have been forced to a reception of gifts (right?), and here she is really sad at one of her gifts...


Here is the trip they went on together shortly after, can't you see it? She must have been suffering immensely!


For the next year or so, her victim worked very hard trying to make her happy. But of course he had limitations. For instance he was in the volunteer fire department, and worked a full time job. He wasn't completely obedient to her every wish either. Not to mention he didn't really enjoy the garbage music she and her friends listened too, or drinking beer out in the weeds in the night.


Finally she had enough (abuse?), so she began partying without him, and met a really cool party dude named Lamont Barlow. But of course she did not want her victim and family to notice, so she would go home to her victim after sleeping with another man.

Yes indeed, she was "saved" from the terribleness of a good man, and she was "rescued" by Lamont, someone else who would party and drink with her. Here they are just before she went back to her victim and pretended to be good to him too. Lamont is only Nine years older than she is, her victim is five. She was finally free at last when she was pregnant for the second time, with Lamont's child. Finally "escaping" only when she was sent away for committing adultery.

I hold no judgment as to Elissa Wall, or her Lamont, except to discern. I hope only that she has the happiness of her own choosing as I would anyone else. I am not the judge of her, but I can judge between truth and error. I have told the truth here, despite the lies that she has spread, including her fictional account written in her book.

How to "SAVE" an FLDS girl

Four years ago a sixteen year old girl from the FLDS church contacted her eighteen year old brother. Her brother who along with her “boyfriend” had apostatized from the church and moved to Hurricane Utah. They had a dilemma, her mother was being unreasonable.

All she wanted was to have fun for crying out loud, and her mother recently got her in trouble for underage drinking and being out way into the night, and finally after only a couple times caught at the bachelor "lost boy" party house in Hurricane Utah, called the police. The police caught her in a car in the middle of the night and gave this girl a ticket. Before the Moccasin, Arizona judge the mother swore out a restraining order against the brother to keep him from driving the twenty miles to Short Creek and picking up his sister to take her to his all male party house as was done several times before.

So what did the poor brother and sister do? This girl was given the phone number to the all knowing savior Flora Jessop. Flora had one of her cronies from Hurricane Utah contact the girl and her sidekick with the same name, and pick them up late in the evening in January 2004. When her daughter went missing way into the night this girls mother was frantic.

Meanwhile, toting two news crews along with her, Flora Jessop drove up from Phoenix, Arizona and picked up these two girls. “Smile big for the camera and tell them you are fleeing a forced marriage, I will do the rest” she reassured them. “I don’t want to marry an old man… or something like that” her friend said to the television camera and the stupefied audience.

When the girls mother was completely beside herself the next morning, the brother at the party house said he knew nothing, and actually, he didn’t. O where would this mother find her “party girl”? She phoned everyone and everywhere, including her eldest son who had left the church years before and had been somewhat close to the family when they lived in Salt Lake before 2001. He did see her, ON TV!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch in her new “safe house” in Phoenix, you know the buddy of Flora’s house who only had one sixteen-year-old boy living with her. Flora then explained to the girls that they HAD to tell Arizona CPS that their fathers molested them, beat them, and were going to force them into a marriage with old men. She told them that they faced being murdered by their families if they were ever caught. This they told CPS down to the letter, and when CPS asked the girl how she know this, she said “Flora told me” (Only that part didn’t make the affidavit the judge saw) "All is cool young ladies, you are now free to paaartteeeee! Woo! woo!"

In the next few days, with nerves frazzled, the girls mother was beside herself with what to do, this was her baby girl, her last one at home. Her son from Salt Lake promised to “help” all he could and so he and his wife Joni drove to Phoenix. The next thing this mother who ate, drank, and slept by the phone received was what shocked her the most; charges by the state of Arizona against her and her husband for child abuse. Her father was charges with sexually assaulting her, and physically dragging her across the room, and the "immanent threat" of marriage. And her mother was charged with accessory. The “helpful” brother Carl John Holm had signed the papers agreeing with the allegations.

It took several months and many 300 mile trips by the girls parents before they were exonerated. And when the judge signed that, she also signed a motion for FLORA JESSOP to have NO FURTHER CONTACT with the girl.

O that was easy, Flora knew, give the girls who had now joined up with Joni Holm’s daughter Megan, a car, cell phone, and a couple hundred bucks. AND THEN HOLD A PRESS CONFERENCE. “We don’t know where they are” said Flora and Joni each in front of the capital building in Phoenix. “The state of Arizona has failed to protect these kids, and they have run away again” CPS in Arizona still had temporary custody of the girls, but because they were at Flora’s “safe house” they had run away. CPS “tried” to find them.

And thankfully, said the entire United States press corp. they turned up at Carl and Joni Holm’s house in Sandy Utah a few weeks later. “Safe at last” CPS in Arizona had temporary custody, and never closed the case until she turned 18.

Although the girls’ mother refused to sign over custody to her son and his wife, she [edit WAS NOT ALLOWED TO STOP THE GIRL FROM STAYING] in Salt Lake, although in open rebellion to the rules of the “new” mother for a year and a half, when she turned 18. Finally in June of 2005 she was able to join her party brother and get drunk and have the boy she “loved” dump her after a one night stand, and another boy getting her drunk at a party and taking advantage of her. Joni told the tabloids “She fled back to Polygamy”

FREE AT LAST, now she was a true American girl. My sister, Fawn Holm

On a side note, our sister who is just younger than Fawn and was constantly berated by her and the boys of the neighborhood (who all ended up "lost"), wrote a letter to the prophet, and was praying night and day to her God to bless her and her sister. While Fawn is in Boston today, rescued from the "brainwashing" by Dr Phil, and safe shacking up with her boyfriend and living hand to mouth; this sister is a mother of the most beautiful baby you will never see. She is married to a young man whose honor and virtue and work ethic are unmatched anywhere on earth.

So who escaped what? Who is saved from what?

What if I told you that no one in the FLDS church even READ Carolyns book before the raid, they had no idea that she was spreading such lies! You have to have a lot of backbone; yes, even the nerves of steel to endure the mockery of the world.

No Longer Ignoring the Problem

In the experiences of writing this blog in this day and time I often feel very alone, I know there are hundreds of men more qualified and more able to defend the way we were brought up and the wonderful teachings of peace and love that truly embody the FLDS Church. From reading the newspapers about Flora and her disturbing accusations, and then seeing a smiling and happy Ruby the same day; to going to a funeral of my little nephew who died in a tragic accident and then reading and hearing stories of a cult involved in sacrificing children. I would often wonder why we as a people did not “answer them something”

For years we have been taught that the persecutions were going to come again, that the raid of 53 was not the end, and the bitter lawsuits of the eighties and nineties were not the end. Truly the prophet would often say that the Lord needs a pure people to be able to withstand what is going to come. Those words cut me to the bone as I write them.

In recent days those outsiders who have been in the forefront of defending the innocent women and children who were victimized by Texas perpetrators of the law have been tested as well. They have been loud and outspoken in every way they possibly can, and yet they see the FLDS people laying low and avoiding the conflict. Now the conflict is almost un fightable for them because of the accusations and charges that have become public. Truly they are being tested as well.

I personally am in a quandary very often. For no one asked me to write this blog, no one approved of it, no one helped me write what I have written. Who am I to write these things? What qualifications do I have? None. I feel like a rebel without a home or a cause. Fighting for those who often do not want me to fight for them, against people who do not want me fight against them. Butting my nose where it seems not welcome or does not belong. There is only one place that steels me, only one. Now don’t get me wrong, I am not steel, I am jelly and powder. I am rebellious and slow. But I care. That is the only thing that keeps me writing this blog. I care. Do not let it be said of me that I did nothing for my fellow man! I had a younger brother come to me as he was leaving the church several years ago, and he said he knew that none of his brothers cared what he did. I wept when he said that to me. That memory haunts me. I was so caught up with my personal life that I could not argue with him, although I tried. I write this blog for those who WANT to believe the truth about the FLDS. Not for the FLDS, or for the enemies of the FLDS.

I find that in many cases the truth is so far away from what the general population WANTS to believe, my efforts oftentimes feel useless and takes away from my personal effort to get closer to my Father in heaven and turn the other cheek. But I continue not for me, my purpose is to help outsiders who do want to believe the truth, no matter what happens. I do miss me.

For those who wonder why the FLDS do not fight, let me tell you. The answer is very simple and not what you may think. The answer is not just turning the other cheek; the answer is there is no legal leg to stand on except the Constitution of the United States. Not once has the religious rights of the FLDS people been upheld. Not even once in all the history of the Mormon Church and that is since 1830, a hundred and seventy years ago. We have been driven and assaulted ever since in every way. The only time it ever stopped was after those who were doing the attacking tired, or after the people capitulated to their enemies at least in public.

Not from the time that plural marriage was made public as a doctrine of the Priesthood and a requirement of the highest heavens has any group of judges or lawmakers given this law of my birthright the shadow of respect that it deserves. And every time a government or a group of apostates attacked any of the institutions of the FLDS, they could always excuse it away to the public because of the illegality of the Celestial law of marriage. All insults were excused away every time; at the end of the day we still had no rights. The fights often were long and ridiculous in their worthless cause, but the effect was always the same. “We don’t like you, and we could stop you, but we won’t for now.” Pretending we had Constitutional God given rights merely because they let us.

In 1956 the state of Utah stole the children of Vera Black for the second time, decimating the life of little Wilford. And the fight went to the Supreme Court. Poor Aunt Vera was forced to sign a paper pledging to not teach her children about the law that she held most sacred because secular and mainstream Mormon society did not approve and called it “abuse”. She signed it just to get her poor devastated children back into her arms again. What other choice did she have? In effect, that law that took her children is still good law and has never changed.

Since that time the persecution slowed to almost nothing, and a general ignorant stand had been taken until the turn of the century. The persecution changed shape when apostate women, besides apostate men, became outspoken. The gripe that stuck, of all the gripes, was the age of marriage. They could never say with accuracy that anyone was forced to marry, or anyone was abused in any way by the church, or that fraud was widespread among or sanctioned by the Church, despite these continuous complaints and their common belief among the general population.

What they could prove was some girls were getting married as teenagers. Ah Ha! Polygyny AND teenage marriage! Now there is a CRIME! Of course we can’t compare responsible lifelong committed marriage with a teenager to non married sex between adults and teenagers, or compare percentages of sexually active teenage girls in and out of the FLDS, or even compare polygyny in the FLDS with polyamory among teenagers everywhere else, why? Because that would condemn the society that was being held out as the greater of the two.

So laws were changed to try to fight this “problem” specific to the FLDS culture. The problems with these laws are obvious, marriage and family advocates who fight for them are shooting themselves in the foot. But they always have that history of persecution to stand on to defend the persecutions today. It does not matter what statements get made by the FLDS leaders, they are criminals because their religion requires that a “crime” be committed at some point. You have no right to make a commitment to two women at the same time! (Sex on the other hand, just don’t tell anyone and you can be President!)

Recently a statement was read declaring what seemed like a big deal to the outside world but was in the FLDS world a non issue in reality. Girls will not be married in the FLDS church under the age that society decides of consent to marry. Big deal. There is nothing about the religion that requires girls to get married young anyway. There is nothing in the religion that requires a lady to even be intimate with her husband after they are married. The only requirement is that they get married FIRST. There is a requirement of the men to never force, but that doesn’t seem to matter.

Sure, making girls stay single may be difficult for them personally, but timing means very little to the eternal progress of families that God expects. To wait a couple of years is quite unsubstantial. This is not even close to the same thing as declaring to stop polygyny. It’s who you marry, and how you marry, not when you marry, that is important. Maturity and age are relative anyway, but for some reason society has picked an age for girls to be irresponsible one day, and completely dumped on their heads with no protection the next. And that age is different depending on whether or not they are FLDS.

Now that we got that major “problem” out of the way, we need a trade off to fight the very dangerous belief system of people outside of the FLDS church. It is now a pandemic.

They force their little girls to run around naked or with very little clothes on. They use very sharp metal instruments and cut bloody holes in their little girls ears and often noses when they are very young. Their children are forced to believe that a fat man with a red coat and a big beard is breaking into their home in the middle of the night, bringing them toys so that is “ok”. Their children are forced to believe that animals can talk. They are forced into a culture that destroys millions of trees to put in their houses for a few weeks a year. They are forced to believe that man came from monkeys and prayer in school is evil. The children are forced into watching horrible indoctrination of sexually explicit movies and television for years, and force them into listening to sexually explicit music. The girls are forced to paint their faces and destroy their hair to sexually seduce men. Girls are forced to walk around baring their legs and stomach, and this is “ok”. Children are being forced into drug use and physical abuse at school. They are forced into a culture that promotes premarital sex and force them to murder their children or forced into a belief system that murder is “ok”. They are forced into a culture where girls are taught that it is “important” to have sex at a young age with as many men as they can before they commit to anyone. And they are forced into a culture where fidelity is frowned upon and sin is excused away. They are forced to believe that it is “ok” to attack a non agressive sovereign country and kill thousands of their citizens because some of them believe a certain religion. Girls are forced to hate marriage because if they get married abuse must be tolerated until they die. Boys are forced to hate marriage because it will end in divorce if they are not obedient to their wife.

I know this is all true about all of you non-FLDS because I saw it on Maury Povich and Jerry Springer. There is way to much secular data to give you any benefit of the doubt. If you don’t give up your beliefs, we should take your children and put them in good FLDS homes.

A great trade off, if you ask me.

The Crime of Marriage

Paradigm shifting time! This is indeed the Orwellian era, that is the only way a betrothal,which is an eternal contract of mutual benefit,; and sometimes the eventual sacred procreation, can be twisted into “sexual assault of a child”.

Crime
We all know that coercion is wrong. Forcing someone to do what is wrong should never be tolerated. But what is force, and who decides what is or is not wrong? And who decides who should tolerate what? Countless hours of lawyer-ing and politic-ing have stretched and diluted the definition of “force”, all in attempts to mitigate personal responsibility. Let me save us all some time. Force is physical, or the threat of physical, coercion.

Now stop this “spiritual threat” nonsense!! This is central to the first amendment! This is like saying a man who threatens his wife that she will magically turn into a frog, is responsible for what she does because of it. The only way to prove a “damnation” threat as real, you must prove that the religion is true! Now all you lawyers and judges go write on the chalkboard fifty times: ”Damnation threats are not legitimate unless the church that makes the threat is established as the true church by the state” Although irrelevant to FLDS marriages, as there is never any type of threat over when to marry or a particular match, it is true just the same.

It is in fact a crime to force (as defined above) anyone to do anything against their will after they reach the age of accountability, unless to protect others or themselves from harm. It is not a crime to teach or persuade someone to accept your definition of right and wrong, or else every lawyer who speaks to a jury is a criminal. In fact, the prosecution in the Warren Jeffs case actually convinced the jury that it was RIGHT to believe a lie about the FLDS doctrine.

The police state gives responsibility for the actions of a “child” differently than that of an adult, and also attempts to protect children from adults. In the FLDS age has little relevance to responsibility or protection. All ages are responsible, and all are protected. In secular society “crime” is punished by monetary fines and incarceration via guns. In the FLDS crime is punished by disassociation, “the silent treatment”, or enforced “escape”. Once upon a time in this country, marriages were merely registered with the government for census purposes. But now, civil marriage is a government controlled welfare state function. No wonder it is rare! Religious FLDS eternal marriage is in many instances a “civil crime”. And I could be used as evidence.

A Dult Hood
Adulthood, to most people, is defined as the age to vote, or to buy alcohol, but that is not truly when you enter the dult (neighbor)hood.

The age of accountability is when people have more personal responsibility for what they do than their parents do. In Secular society [The police state] the age of accountability is either the age at which one can civilly [licensed by government] be married, or charged as an adult with a crime, or emancipated from their parents, or turn 18 years old, or 21 years old. In the FLDS, the age of accountability starts at the age of baptism. To the Secular (whiners) society, the age of 18 is when you enter adulthood, if you are not already civilly married or emancipated by a judge, in just about every state, and at age 21 you are officially an adult, and lose most all protection from authority. Most teenagers decide for themselves when they are adults, but it is not “legal” unless the police state says so. If a young man is not yet “legal” but feels he doesn’t need a judge, or his parents, to be responsible for him, he is a “Lost Boy” and needs to get welfare and mental help from Dan Fischer’s Diversity (freeloaders) Foundation. The phenomenon is not exclusively "associated with polygamy".

Fear
Obviously sexual activity is the most fiercely contested topic since The Garden of Eden. Through it humanity begins, and next to murder, rape is the worst possible crime. It is the ultimate oxy-moron. So-called “liberals” (libertines) believe that sexual activity is an act of freedom and has no relevance to law, unless it involves pedophilia (with varying definitions). Marriage, on the other hand is to be pondered and studied for years (sex, no big deal, marriage, noo!) And they are afraid of babies. So-called “conservatives” (hypocrites) believe that sexual activity is sin if outside of civil marriage, and age of civil marriage law should be strictly adhered to, and civil marriage is a religious act that makes it legitimate. And yet they forgive themselves and thier family but others should toe the line. For both liberal Republicans and conservative Democrats, marriage is worse (as in much more feared) than sexual activity is. Go look in the mirror, most people are to some degree hypocritical libertines. I have a mirror too.

In reality, intimacy is for babies, naturally. Marriage is a lot more than that, but is the only way in which babies and mothers can truly thrive. Women are “victims” (mothers) of “crimes” (babies), and should be protected “from” (in) that “abuse” (joy). Among other benefits, pregnancy is a Cancer fighter, especially under the age of 20.

In the FLDS, Marriage means commitment through eternity, and creates a haven for mothers and babies; while among libertines and hypocrites, marriage merely legitimizes sexual activity and has tax benefits. Marriage in the FLDS vs Marriage in Secular society is the difference between “the nest and the hive” vs “the birds and the bees”

Coercion
Real men never pressure their wife in any way, the womb is hers and she is master. Even though a natural trait of angelic femininity is submissiveness, a good man will wait for her. Weak men, who are not married, should be punished when they coerce any obviously brainwashed woman into sexual activity. That punishment should be civil marriage. How bout that for polygamy! How bout that for “underage” marriage! If there is anything women and girls should “escape”, it is whoredom. A true women’s rights movement would march on Washington demanding to pass a law giving them the right to be civilly married at consummation, and have the right to half of their husbands estate.

Fear of Marriage
When most women think of their own marriage, they are filled with happiness and life. But they are also afraid of the commitment. A sister of mine (who just so happened to be 21) said, "I don't want a man, I want a baby!" Most men are much more afraid of the commitment than women are, but they do enjoy marriage to gain the commitment of their bride.

Natural law shows that men are responsible for their wives, but women are not responsible for their husbands. The fact that marriage is more feared in society today than sexual activity is blatantly obvious. Out of wedlock pregnancies are very common, teenage mothers and adult fathers are much more common than not, and a majority of children born today are unplanned. Not even to mention the murders of the unborn that occur.

Joy of Slavery
When most people think of polygyny they think of the subjugation of women, and this confuses me. It confuses me because it only proves that most people DO think that women are “less than”, whether they admit it or not; EVEN WOMEN. Marriage has absolutely nothing to do with personal freedom, and the basic human right to decide for yourself what you want to do. Marriage and family is no more slavery when there are two women than it is when there is one, in fact it is LESS so. I feel sorry for those who are married and feel that marriage is ever slavery. Perhaps they should understand the gospel better. Divorce, like Marriage, is not fully defined in the Bible, for women can separate from their husband if he is cruel or otherwise not living his religion; but a man can never put away his wife unless she commits adultery. He is responsible for her salvation, but she is not responsible for his.

Age Difference
A sixty year old man marries an eighteen year old girl. Is that a crime? Is that immoral? Is that slavery? If you cringe at the thought, you need to get your mind out of the gutter, and realize that marriage is not anything but a nest, a psychological home to go to. Outside of marriage, sexual activity is immoral and should be decried, yet practically all women seek a man who will be responsible for her, to marry her, whom is a rock for her to lean on. And all great men seek to be a loving father figure to his wives, no matter what his or her age is.

Multiple Love
Polygynous families are not “normal” in today’s society, but perpetual monogamist families are. Obviously in my experience, polygny is much more beneficial to children than monogamy, let alone the very common "visitation rights with step girlfriends". A woman can love her father, her husband, her sons, and her brothers all at the same time. Love, you must remember, is a verb. A man can love more than one wife just as easy as he can love his own two arms and two legs, and any two children. Love is not divided among them, it is complete for each. As my grandfather said “I love you, I love you, from the bottom of my heart, and a few other ladies occupy the upper part” There is not amore perfect dynamic in a home than one with a Magnanimous father, and sweet and independent mothers for each and all of the children. I grew up with over thirty siblings, and my mothers each went to college when they wanted to, and each earned their own money. And yet I (except when I purposefully snuck away) never was without supervision, love, and a nurturing home. I often think of the “Duggar Family”, just multiplied by two.

Raising Children
How many children can one woman handle for hours upon hours of the day? Ask a teacher. I went to the Salt Lake City Unified School district from kindergarten to sixth grade, going to Hawthorne and Lincoln elementary schools. I was never in a class with less than 25 students and one teacher, with aids once in a while. After sixth grade I went to the FLDS private school, and although the classes were smaller, they were similar. Yet at home the children varied much more in age, and the older ones were much more responsible and helpful than any of my classmates were at school. Good heavens! Who would not want my childhood? What wonderful memories! I wouldn’t trade it for all the gold in China (which makes Fort Knox look like a piggy bank) You feel sorry for me? I feel sorry for YOU!

Q- Are men assigned wives younger than 17?
I've noticed that though this question gets asked a lot, there is always a significant amount of dancing around it without any real answers.Yes or no?

A-The reason the question is danced around is because it is a rather insulting question. Not the age part as much as the "assigned" part. The answer to a question like: "Do girls get married under 17?" The answer is: "Sometimes" If the question is "Are girls forced to marry under age 100?" The answer is "No".

Q- Pligchild,Thank you for answering my question about marriage. I didn't mean to phrase it in an insulting way, but when the women and men aren't necessarily choosing one another (rather, the leader chooses them), the word "assign" seems to fit.I realize it's a rather academic word for an emotional topic, but to me it doesn't imply force but rather a lack of involvement in the selection.Thanks for addressing it.


A- I completely understand that you would feel that way. "Assigned" does fit academically, but it is often used to imply that those who engage in what we call "inspired" marriage are getting married against their will. When you are of marriageable age and are praying every night for Heavenly Father to "inspire the Prophet in my behalf" and he chooses, it is a choice we made to us.

Q- Pligchild,There seems to be two versions of how marital relations come about and I can't reconcile them.One version is that the prophet chooses the couples and it has little to do with attraction or love. Loves results from working together to achieve the mutual goal of reaching the higher level in the celestial kingdom. This version removes emotion and individual will in the selection process. It seems that this side of the story comes up when there is talk of underage marriage. Few deny that ya'll marry a little younger in your group, but the party line is that it's not because the men are attracted to the young girls, it's because the prophet chose them and they trust the prophet. To me this looks like an effort to excuse any perceived sexual ills.

Then there's your version of the story, which makes a little more sense to me. You imply a love relationship and choice. That being said, it's rather difficult to believe that a married couple would wait "years" before consummating their relationship. If the other sister wives are intimate, having children, and through that growing in their relationship with the husband, it would be difficult for the new wife to be on the outside. In most of these situations (statistically speaking), the woman must enter into their marriage as a sister-wife, not as the first or only wife. Isn't she eager to jump in and be a part of the family? Doesn't having children with her husband insure a more viable role within the family and create identity for the wife? I thought having children was considered an honor and the highest calling for a woman. Why would a woman ever prolong receiving that blessing?


A-
Choosing to put trust in God and the prophet is a viable and real choice. The love that is required in any marriage is not created before the love that begins marriage. Love for God, and love for the gospel, and love for your family makes it feel like a great privilege and blessing when you have the opportunity to be married. Girls do not get married unless they want to be and they must make the effort to get married. Most fathers and mothers do not give their treasured angel daughters away easily. Seeing my sisters get married was even tough on me. The girl herself has to make the first step, and the second step. FLDS girls want to marry a man who is virtuous, and loyal to the gospel more than to her, and often she does not find this out for herself, but places her heart and hand into those she does trust; first God, and second Priesthood. She does not begin to cultivate the love that is required before intimacy until after the ceremony. The ceremony is performed out of the love and trust that she has in her God.

The Hymn "A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief" may help you understand. For although man can make mistakes, and God can test us through any man. If you put your trust in God, and He inspires you to walk up to a homeless man and ask him if it is right to marry so and so, God can speak through that man to you. Faith in God is why we trust a man.

Every person in the FLDS is as different as you are from your neighbor. I am sure that a few would want to jump in quick, and some wouldn't. In my opinion many girls old and young inside the FLDS and out do not realize the power they have, and the power that good men inside the FLDS and out give them. The time of intimacy is the ladies domain most of all. Had I married an underage girl (I didn't really know until after the ceremony) I would not have gone to sleep in her bed until she was of legal age. ["Ya, right", says the little pitchfork guy on my shoulder, "you can't say that without experiencing it"] I don't think fathers should let their daughters get married under 16, except under very special circumstances. But that is my own opinion.

I cannot answer from a woman’s prospective about identity, but from mine the answer is no. She is a viable family member when she gets married. If there are already wives and children she is their family member too. There are many family roles outside of pregnancy. Her options become much greater than before, not less than before.

This may sound masculist (my new word for sexist opposite of feminist) but for a man who does not choose his wife, to get a wife is the same as a mother who gets a brand new child, especially the angels like my father and father in law raised. That is how I felt when I married my wife. Like a sweet treasure that would last eternally if treated well.

Becoming a goddess in heaven is the highest calling for a woman, but there are a lot of steps to get there. In the FLDS faith, the marriage ceremony is the beginning of a courtship. One that can last forever.

Top 5 Lies about the FLDS

Lie #1 Girls are forced to marry
No person was ever forced to get married. That is so ridiculously untrue it should not even need to be discussed, but it is so universally believed that it is used to justify the bigotry that exists and the genocide that is being attempted in Texas. No one is forced to do anything in the FLDS after they reach an age to be accountable for themselves, and that is long before marriage. Marriage is the greatest and most important step in life, and is revered more within the FLDS church than it is outside the church. The women who have left the church and say they were once forced to get married are only saying it to get attention and appease the preconceived perceptions of the general public. I feel sorry for those who declare this after they leave. The memories of their whole lives have change to having been forced, abused, and miserable. I do not doubt that they are miserable now, because you cannot lie as they do and be happy. To blame their misery on their former church is ridiculous. It brings me to pity them. There is as much freedom in the FLDS as anywhere else. You always have the freedom to leave if you want. To say they mourn the loss when one leaves is an understatement, but no one is forced to stay. If you do not want to obey the FLDS gospel, feel free to leave; just don’t try to force those who want to stay to leave too. OK? They can choose too can't they? Let them choose to believe what they want, and get on with your own life.

Lie #2 The FLDS exists by pillaging the government for welfare.
This is so absolutely untrue it is laughable. I first heard the term “bleeding the beast” by reading the newspaper, it did not come from the FLDS. The fact that some of the FLDS people have received Social Security, food stamps, and medical benefits from the government is true, but never did the leaders tell the people to do it. In fact the opposite is true. The leaders often recommended staying off government aid. In Texas there was no one on any assistance at all unless you count Social Security. Until now. To think that children were being born for the purpose of taking your tax money is ridiculously stupid. The State governments have been meticulous in investigating all assistance in Hildale and Colorado City, probably more than in any other community in the U.S. because of the continuous accusations, but despite the assumptions there has not even been one case of welfare fraud charged against an FLDS family.

Lie #3 The FLDS do not educate their children
The FLDS believe, as all civil people do, that children should be educated, and that to, by their parents and whomever their parents want them to be educated by. Girls are given the same opportunity as boys, and I believe that there are no better teachers in the world than those in the FLDS church. More girls graduated from high school than boys. And never are the children pulled out of school because they don’t want them to be too smart. Education is the most important thing for everyone on earth, and you can be educated without going to liberal College. The most important education you can get is how to get back to heaven. We are taught that obedience creates happiness, but that does not mean the children are forced to believe as their parents do. They want them to believe as they do, they teach them to believe, but they do what they want with that education. Would you teach your children that what you believe in is wrong? Why would you want the FLDS to?

Lie #4 The FLDS hate black people
We do not hate anyone. We believe that the Negro have just as much right to the salvation of heaven as we do, just not the rights to the priesthood. Joseph Smith said this: “Elder Hyde inquired the situation of the negro. I replied, they came into the world slaves, mentally and physically. Change their situation with the whites, and they would be like them. They have souls, and are subjects of salvation. Go into Cincinnati or any city, and find an educated Negro, who rides in his carriage, and you will see a man who has risen by the powers of his own mind to his exalted state of respectability. The slaves in Washington are more refined than many in high places, and the black boys will take the shine off many of those they brush and wait on” (History of the Church 5:217) (Read by Warren Jeffs in History Class)

We believe that the Negro people are our brothers and sisters, all descendants like we are, of Adam, and Noah. But everyone is given different obstacles to overcome. We believe that all people who are born into this world were put here for the same reason, to obey God. We all will be judged by what we do, what we say, and what we think, according to what we have been taught. We also will be judged by what we teach our children. This is the same no matter where you were born, or what color you are. We believe in freedom for all. We believe we lived before we came to earth, and it is there that we were given our calling. God chose our color, our nationality, and our family not by accident, nor against our will. For the black race, they must overcome the curse they were born with. For us, we must live up to, or overcome our heritage also. The black race cannot be a part of the Priesthood family in this life, but we hope to see as many as will pass their own trials and purify their own lives in the highest heaven too. I believe there will be many.

Lie #5 All people besides those in the FLDS will go to hell
The Savior of the world died on the cross for all of Adams children, and that almost all will go to heaven; Sons of Perdition being the lone exception. All will have the happiness that they earn here, in the next life. They will be happier there then they are here. We believe that there are at least three heavens, or degrees of heaven, and that if you want to go to the highest, you must do what it takes to get there, you must sacrifice all earthly things. To us that is what obedience is. Jesus died so that all will be resurrected and have physical bodies again. And His sacrifice gives us the opportunity to save ourselves through righteousness. You will be just as good, or just as bad, after you die as you are here. You will dwell in heaven with those who you are the most like in character.
